coffee vs. god

about a year ago, i wrote a couple of posts about some quotes on the back of starbucks coffee cups. (you can read those here and here).

i came across another one via a news story on the radio that i thought merited mentioning.

"Why in moments of crisis do we ask God for strength and help?
As cognitive beings, why would we ask something that may
well be a figment of our imaginations for guidance?
Why not search inside ourselves for the power to
overcome? After all, we are strong enough to cause
most of the catastrophes we need to endure."
- Bill Schell, Starbucks customer from London, Ontario, Canada

thoughts?

Is this an actual coffee-cup saying, or someone's response to a coffee-cup saying?

Assuming the former, I'm hoping Starbucks at least put some God-friendly random quotes on some cups (not that that would really make it any better).

Assuming the later, remind me not to stand next to that guy in a "moment of crisis."

Oh, and I choose God. Coffee gives me gas sometimes.

phillip,

yes, this was an actual quote on the cup. i don't mind starbucks printing it, as it is a good conversation starter, but hopefully during the conversation, someone will point out the absurdity of his comment.

if it is all up to us, well by all means, let us "will" and 'desire" the eradication of every disease and put an end to all war.. and lets do away with that pesky poverty thing too while we are at it.

oh... and lets make sure everyone is always happy and fulfilled.
